Lanesboro’s Sylvan Park Shines Bright with New “Legion Lights” Holiday Display
Lanesboro, Minn. – This holiday season, Lanesboro’s Sylvan Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland with the introduction of Legion Lights, an outdoor holiday lights display designed to spread cheer and foster community spirit. From Thanksgiving through New Year’s, visitors from across southeastern Minnesota are invited to experience the magic of the holidays in the heart of Lanesboro.
Supported by the Henry M. Guttormson, Post No. 40 of the American Legion, Legion Lights is more than just a festive display—it’s a community-driven destination that brings people together during the holiday season. In addition to the lights, families and friends will enjoy two weekend events throughout the duration of the display, making this a must-see attraction for all ages.
“We are excited to light up Sylvan Park this year and our hope is to make Legion Lights a cherished tradition in Lanesboro,” said event organizer Kathryn Wade. “Our goal is not only to create a stunning holiday display but to boost local commerce and strengthen the bonds within our community,” she added.
In addition to the captivating light display, Legion Lights will host a variety of special weekend events that promise fun for the whole family. Special event days will be on Saturday, November 30th and Saturday, December 14th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Festive activities will include:
- Visits with Santa Claus: Bring your wish list and snap a photo with Santa as he stops by Legion Lights (stay tuned for exact times).
- Hot Chocolate and S’mores Stations: Cozy up by the firepit with warm treats as you take in the sparkling lights.
- Caroling and Live Entertainment: Enjoy the sounds of the season with local choirs, musicians, and carolers performing throughout the weekends.
- Family Activities: Enjoy festive games for all ages.
The Lanesboro Legion Lights is made possible by generous sponsorship donations and grants from local and regional individuals and businesses. The lights display is also made possible through the support of volunteers who have shared their time and skills to make this event shine bright. Volunteers of all ages have helped with activities such as creating and lighting the displays, installing the lights and trees in the park, fundraising and planning events, and more. “This event is about more than lights—it’s about bringing people together and celebrating what makes Lanesboro special during the holiday season,” said Kathyrn Wade.
